Business Tax Services
As a business tax client, we will serve as your advocate in planning and tax compliance for your small business. We will also assist you in the complex maze of business tax accounting, tax planning, as well as federal, state and local tax form preparation. Our staff has extensive experience in taxation of S Corporations, C Corporations, LLC’s, Partnerships, Not-For-Profit Organizations, and Private Foundations in a variety of industries.
Although we encourage you to administer your payroll and payroll tax cycle in-house, we do offer these services to those clients who do not have the time or expertise to do so. As such, we will prepare, from information you provide, your quarterly federal and state employment tax returns, including forms 941, UCT-6, 940, and W-2’s. We will also prepare, or assist your staff in preparing, forms 1099, as required.
Additionally, we will assist you in the complex and financially important decision as to which type of business entity best suits your needs and helps you reduce your taxes to a minimum. We can also help you choose a retirement plan that fits well in your business model.
Competent tax planning and compliance for your business will help you achieve your long-term financial goals with peace-of-mind, while affording you time to focus on your craft.
Individual Income Tax Services
Individual income tax planning, compliance and preparation services are the core of our business. Our firm’s culture was created by the desire to serve individuals first. This is because we believe that taxes are ultimately paid by people, not companies. In the net, the small business owner pays the tax.
As such, we have developed a diverse practice of individual tax clients from many walks of life, income levels and occupations. We will plan for and prepare your annual U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, as well as most state and local income tax returns (for non-Florida clients). We are authorized by the United States Treasury Department as an Electronic Return Originator (ERO). We will e-File your return as a matter of practice, unless you request otherwise.
As your individual tax professionals, we can advise you of the income, estate & gift, and state and local tax ramifications on a variety of transactions or prospective financial events - for example, the sale of a rental or investment property, buy vs. lease transactions, financing decisions, estate planning moves, and the sale of a closely-held business.
As one of our individual tax clients, you will receive the very best in personalized service.
Business Accounting & Advisory Services
Every company owner/manager needs a compass in order to properly navigate to the achievement of your business and financial goals. Your financial statements are, in large part, your compass. Some companies use them more frequently than others – perhaps monthly – while some need quarterly or annual financial statements to manage the business affairs. And, on the more simplistic end of the scale, some companies only require their accountants prepare an accounting (or “write-up”) sufficient to complete the business’ annual income tax return.
Regardless of what level of accounting service you need, we will assist you in the design, implementation and operation of your accounting system. We will also consult with you, at your request, to analyze your financial statements so that they become a useful tool – a compass, if you will - instead of some piece of paper you print out and throw away. Candid and practical business advice is perhaps the most valuable commodity we have to offer.
Many of our clients utilize Quicken®, QuickBooks®, or Peachtree® as their accounting information system. Our staff is very knowledgeable on these and other accounting applications, and we can either serve your business on-site, or off-site via the internet.
In addition to accounting services, we offer business advisory services which include business planning, management/ownership succession planning, merger & acquisition counseling, tax projections, and lease vs. buy analyses.
Estate & Trust Services
Our firm has long concentrated on the practice of estate and trust tax planning, compliance and administration. Whether you are small business owner, professional, career employee, personal representative, executor, attorney or guardian; or whether you have had a loved one pass away, our estate and trust skill set will be invaluable to you.
For over 20 years, our staff has served hundreds of clients in this area of practice. Mr. Legg has extensive experience in preparing probate accountings for estates and trusts, as well as in the preparation of their annual U.S. and state income tax returns. As such, we can prepare, or assist your attorney in the preparation of Form 706, U.S. Estate and Generation Skipping Transfer Tax Return. Our rates for these services are typically far less than law firms charge.
If you are a probate attorney and don't want the hassle and liability of income, gift or estate tax issues, we would be happy to serve you and your clients in this capacity. We will work closely with you, your staff and, if you prefer, directly with your client, so that you can focus on legal matters while maximizing your profit on your services.
Tax Representation Services
In the process of tax preparation and compliance, we strive to prevent you and your company from being audited by the IRS or the Florida Department of Revenue; however, these examinations are a fact of life. An astute CPA will employ many techniques to minimize audits. In the event of an audit, we offer competent tax representation in addition to the business tax and individual income tax services offered.
If you are notified of an examination, don’t panic! Prompt attention to government correspondence is essential in order to minimize potential penalties and interest. Call us for an appointment. Most tax audits, in our experience, result in little or no additional tax. In fact, some result in refunds. Be sure to correspond directly with us prior to contacting any government agency or official.
Should you decide to hire our firm to represent you before the Internal Revenue Service or any other government tax authority, we will give you candid advice on your options and potential exposure. We strive to advocate our clients’ interests and to quickly resolve audits and inquiries in a professional and efficient manner.
IRS has made it very clear that they intend to increase the level of audits, across the board, in an effort to reduce the “tax gap” and increase tax revenues.
